Will we ever hit peak Melbourne? Probably not. More delicious shit like this will come along to remind us that we live in a city more decadent and OTT than a full-blown Caligulan orgy. First it was the Nutella burger, then alcoholic pho, and now cocktails in a bloody cone.
Yep, you read that right. You can now get delicious, dairy-based cocktails in a choc-coated waffle cone. It’s the brainchild of the freaky geniuses at Lustre Bar in Flinders Lane. Inspired by the coffee in a cone movement, they upped the ante and added essential ingredients like Chambord, Creme de Menthe and Kahlua. Sweet mother of god.
The cones come served in pairs atop a silver ice-cream stand (so you don't have to sit there holding them for ages like a mug), and at the moment you can get four different flavours: Choc Berry, Peppermint, Hazelnut and a particularly delicious Affogato. The choc coating on the cone is designed to minimize drippage and melt-through, but it’s still probably not a drink you want to nurse for an hour. Drink ‘em fast, drink ‘em often. Godspeed.
