From now on we will only watch our movies when they’re under the stars, and the backdrop consists of panoramic views of Docklands and the Bolte Bridge. Luckily for us, this weekend Point Park at Yarra’s Edge is hosting a three-night-only moonlight cinema - and it’s oh so free, darling.
Yep, FREE! We don’t want to alarm anyone, but the first 100 guests will also be offered a complimentary beanbag to cosy on into. Stampede imminent, then? Arriving early also gives you ample time to take advantage of the food trucks, the sizzling gourmet BBQ, or your classic cinema fare including popcorn, lollies and more popcorn - but if you’re more of a BYO fan, then feel free to bring along your picnic hamper for your own snacking purposes.
The site opens at 6.30pm each night, with the films starting at dusk (approx. 8.30pm) - and if you arrive a little later than the free beanbag stampede, they’ll only be going for $8 each, which is a pretty reasonable price to pay for comfort considering you're seeing a movie for nada.
Also, if you’re struggling to find your way there or just feel like something different, a complimentary ferry service will be running from Federation Square to Yarra’s Edge each night. Gold coin donations will be collected across the series for Kids Under Cover, an organisation that works to prevent youth homelessness by building homes and providing scholarships and mentors for at risk young people.

The Imitation Game: Benedict Cumberbatch depicts real-life British cryptanalyst Alan Turing in this brilliant historical drama detailing Turing’s efforts at decrypting the German Intelligence codes for the British Government during World War II. Although it’s a bit of a mouthful, this movie is just perfect – you won’t regret it. Guys, it’s Cumberbatch!

Spectre: Bond is back with a vengeance and we’re totally pumped. The follow-up to super epic flick, Skyfall, sees James Bond fighting against global criminal organisation, Spectre. Also, Sam Smith is on lead vocals for the film’s iconic opening sequence. YAY!

Inside Out: Disney’s mind-bogglingly amazing animated film, Inside Out, which delves into the human mind and tugs on those ol’ heartstrings. You’re allowed to shed a tear or two.
