In news that will excite of kidults of Melbourne, a serious influx of fun is on its way. If you’re sad about the departure of Glow Festival’s open-air ice rink this Sunday, dry your eyes and get excited for the FASHION BALL PIT popping up in Emporium as part of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week’s Shop The City weekend later this month. If that’s not enough to get you pumped (I repeat, BALL PIT FOR GROWN UPS), November will see an epic PAINT PARTY to usher in the arrival of spring, and December puts the cherry on top with the WORLD’S LARGEST STREET WATERSLIDE taking over Lansdowne Street. Let the games begin.

There’s a host of fun of offer at Emporium over the Shop The City weekend, held 28th – 30th August, but who are we kidding? We’ll be spending all day in the ball pit. Located on lower ground, you’ll have the opportunity to make like a model in the 3 X 3 metre fashion photo ball pit and have your playtime snapped for social media. #ballin

Whiskey & Whiskers will offer samples of the good stuff along with beard trims, there will be live music, hair braiding and makeup retouching, and we hear promising talk of something called Prosecco Towers.

You’ve no doubt heard about India’s riotous spring festival, Holi, where revellers gather to pelt their friends and foes with paint powder and super soakers, feast on deliciousness, and dance their worries away. The Festival of Colours or Festival of Love heralds in spring and celebrates the triumph of good over evil. Now that’s a cause we can all get behind!

And now we can in person as well as spirit, as Melbourne is hosting its very own Holi Festival of Colours at CERES Environmental Park in Brunswick on Saturday 7th November. Just enough time to get your hair back to boring brown for your Monday 9am.

Back for the third year, you can expect an epic day of neon fun, with live music, delicious eats and a bunch of surprises in store. The kicker? Funds raised go towards supporting a school lunch program in south India, as well as teaching programs, installing rain watering harvesting systems, and business and education initiatives for women in rural areas.

Worried about coating your skin in chemicals? Don’t – you’ll receive a paint pack full of organic biodegradable colour made from vegetables, flowers, leaves and potato starch.

Those fun-loving folk at Slide Melbourne are at it again – pop December 6th and Feb 7th in your diary now for a day of slippy, slide-y, wet and wild fun. 400 metres long, 3 lanes wide, the world’s largest street waterslide will be taking over Landsdowne Street in East Melbourne this summer. Race you to the bottom!
