Food, tunes and pop-up bars – the three things one of Melbourne’s best new events is bringing to you this summer!
Every Friday night in February, the Immigration Museum’s courtyard will transform into the Courtyard Cantina – a summer garden party featuring DJs, a pop up bar, and some of Melbourne’s best food vendors including Senior BBQ, Burn City Smokers and Feast of Merit.
Cantina guests can also wander into the Immigration museum’s exhibition spaces at the half-priced entry of $7. Their latest exhibition The Flyaway Print Exchange is definitely one to catch – plus there will also be free wine tastings!
The first Cantina kicks off on 5 February, where Fred Siggins of the Black Pearl will be hosting the Tiki Time cocktail tasting. Think tropical: Mai Tais, Hurricanes and Pina Coladas! The session includes step-by-step demonstrations, tastings, and a journey into the cultural and historical context of each fun-loving drink. Spaces for this exclusive one-off event are limited - so we definitely recommend booking tickets.
Also coming to the Courtyard Cantina on Friday nights in February will be PBS FM broadcasting live from the courtyard on 12 February, as well as a showcase of the works of contemporary, female, Muslim fashion designers as part of Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival on 19 February.
With a focus on unique cultural identities and championing the amazing multiculturalism we love here in Melbourne, Courtyard Cantina has got to be one of the most authentic, rewarding events running this summer. The Courtyard Cantina is set to be one of Melbourne’s hottest events, and best of all it’s free for everyone to enjoy - so bring your mates, your family and your favourite friends!
Courtyard Cantina is part of the Immigration Museum’s North South Feast West season of events, which will also boast a Feast Asia festival (celebrating the different aspects of Asian culture) and Brew Fest, over the next six months. Courtyard Cantina will run every Friday night from 5-9pm, with unique programming set each Friday - check out all the details here. Entry is free.
