In news that’s sure to divide Melbourne’s burger and soup communities, Cheeseburger Soup is now officially a thing. All the slurpy goodness of soup, combined with the meaty pickly-ness of a cheeseburger. Sounds...ambitious.
It’s all for a good cause too. Jimmy Hurlston of Jimmy’s Burgers and Easey’s is teaming up with the Salvos as part of Be A Souperhero, a fundraising initiative which calls upon brave citizens to replace every meal with soup between 29 July and 4 August. The cheeseburger soup will set you back $10, 100% of which goes straight to the Salvo’s community programs.
“It’s a pretty unique way to keep warm and still enjoy the richness of a burger,” Hurlston muses, sounding a little like Dr Frankenstein. “We wanted to create an authentic cheeseburger taste and experimented with a french onion soup base packed with rich ground beef, Frenchy’s yellow mustard, pickles and cheese…lots of cheese. It’s a special soup for a special cause and we can’t wait to see the response.”
Even if you’re skeptical, you should probably give it a try (then you can be skeptical with evidence). You can get the cheeseburger soup at Easey’s exclusively via the Deliveroo app. Soup-erb.

You'll need something to watch while you drink your cheeseburger. How about an epic Studio Ghibli festival?
