This is one of those very Melbourne ideas we wished we thought of first (mostly so we could patent it and make millions).
Cheese High Teas. High Cheeses. Whatever you want to call them—dedicated cheese-themed afternoon teas, swapping out the traditional scones, jam and cream for, oh I dunno, baked camembert and ricotta cannoli.
The Westin Melbourne will be running a series of High Cheese events this month, launching on Friday 24 May. The Westin are bringing the High Tea expertise and silver service—Maker & Monger are bringing the cheese. (And those guys really know their cheese.)
“Due to last year’s success, we knew we had to really go for it again this year. The amount of effort and research we have put into this menu has delivered with some big surprises, there’s lots on the menu people simply wouldn’t have tried before” said Michael Greenlaw.” says Westin Executive Chef, Michael Greenlaw.
On the menu, you'll find baked Normandy camembert aux calvados that's served with lavosh. That's sure to set a few mouths watering. You'll also find black truffle, porcini and walnut layered Brie Fermier la Tremblaye,
Swiss gruyere vieux gougères with burnt green leek, and Marcel Petite Comté Réservation custard tarts.
High Cheese is running every evening from 5pm until 31 August—so you’ve got plenty of time to grow that extra stomach you’ll be needing.
