Melbourne is a melting pot of creativity: From the incredible street art scene, to the vibrant international food culture, to the ever-competitive cocktail scene, we’re pretty #blessed to have so many amazing eateries, bars, galleries and laneways on our doorsteps. And what could be better than bringing all these virtues together in one CBD laneway for a day of eats, drinks, beats and visual culture?!
The team at MARCS Laneway Festival (that stands for Melbourne Art Restaurant Cocktail Sound, folks) have decided to do exactly that, introducing a new date to the Melbourne festival scene. On Sunday 28 February, AC/DC Lane will be transformed into a buzzing street festival, with appearances by Melbourne favourites spanning from local DJ heroes to Peruvian street food.
If you’re there for the food, you can expect to be snacking on hawker delights from around the world, thanks to Italian eatery Terra Rossa, British kitchen Papa Goose, Peruvian bar-restaurant Harley House and The Swiss Club, who will be serving up enough gooey raclette cheese to keep even the most hardcover lactose-lovers at bay. It’s also your first chance to preview cuisine from Papa Goose head honcho Neale White’s new Indian concept, Brick Lane, which will be popping up for the very first time.
Melbourne cocktail lords Eau De Vie will be in charge of rum concoctions, with the Harley House and Mary Fortune teams on hand with champagne, beer and pisco sours. Looking for live music? There will be graffiti art, bands and DJ sets all day!
It’s set to be the most Melbourne laneway festival to send off the summer... ever.
MARCS Laneway Festival takes place on Sunday 28 February from 12 noon until 7pm. Entry is free, and there will be activities such as face painting too… Perfect for little and big kids alike!
