The Melbourne Show has come along way since we were a kid, when the most delicious thing you could buy was a Bertie Beetle showbag and a huge cotton candy thing, spun from the gossamer wings of deceased fairies. These days it’s some serious GOURMET shit, as Jules from Pulp Fiction would say.
To wit, this year’s Winning Tastes lineup just dropped, and it’s a doozy.
Mamasita will be making an appearance from 23 – 26 September, slinging soft-shell tacos and flame-grilled corn with Mexican queso. Tokyo Tina will be there too (27 – 30 September) dishing up DIY beef bao by the truckload. There’ll be special appearances from the guys behind The Smith, who are doing pimped-up fish and chips, PLUS a rotating dessert bar, featuring chocolates and macarons from Zumbo’s Patissier, Le Petit Gateau and LuxBite.
If soft drink isn’t hitting the spot, head over to the Winning Tastes Cocktail Bar, where the bartenders will be mixing special edition cocktails from local spirit brands like Old Young’s Bass, Hippocampus Metropolitan, Australian Spirit Company, Applewood Distillery and Starward Whisky.
The Show kicks off on Saturday 23 September and runs until Tuesday 3 October at the good ol’ Melbourne Showgrounds. Tickets are on sale now, and you save a cheeky 25% if you book before 31 August. Get around it.
