In news that is no surprise to anyone who lives here, Melbourne has once again been crowned as the world’s most liveable city—marking 7 years on top of the world.

This is the first time in the Economist’s annual global liveability survey that a city has held the number 1 ranking for 7 consecutive years, with Vancouver holding the previous record of 6 years.

Lord Mayor Robert Doyle was understandably very keen on hearing the news “This accolade is an important selling point for Melbourne internationally: for businesses to invest or move here, for the best and brightest people to make Melbourne their home and for tourists to visit us. It is particularly important in attracting international students.”.

Melbourne received a total score of 97.5. 95 for stability, 95.1 for culture and environment, and perfect 100 scores for education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

There has been no word yet as to what we scored on key categories such as smashed avo, Nutella burgers, hidden bars, or the amount of 7-11’s we have.

Oh yes, and Sydney came 11th…..

Did you see that this Brunswick café is giving away free smashed avo? Find out more here.
