After the success of Open House Melbourne—that annual architecture extravaganza you always forget until it’s too late and all the best places have been booked weeks ago—Ballarat is getting in on the action.
Open House Ballarat will kick off for the first time this October (Saturday 28 and Sunday 29). It’s the first time Open House Melbourne has partnered up with a regional centre, and there’ll be a huge line-up of private contemporary houses and heritage public buildings open to public view.
“The weekend is a chance for people to challenge their opinion about architecture, build their knowledge about Ballarat, and be informed about future developments that will impact the city,” says Ballarat Mayor Samantha McIntosh.
The full building list will be announced in September, so watch this space. In the meantime, let’s speculate on how long it’ll be until we’re celebrating Open House Frankston and Open House Wodonga.
