People of the podcast world we have some MAJOR news for ya’ll. We know you’re already across all things Serial (and if not, we suggest you pop over here to catch yourself up to speed, stat). At any rate, we’re thinking you’re going to want to save the date on this one.
Yep, the season 3 drop from the podcast creators of This American Life is legit right around the corner (we’re days away legends, DAYS) so make a mark on September 20 because that’s when you’re going to go completely off the radar and kickstart your continued binge-life with Serial once again.
Unlike previous seasons, which were more or less self-contained investigative stories co-produced by Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder (who also brought us S-Town), the next stretch of audio-magic will focus on Cleveland’s criminal justice system and will follow a number of different cases. What makes this next phase of Serial super exciting is the ridiculous amount of access the producers were granted; recordings from courtrooms, judges’ chambers and attorney offices. The team spent an entire year inside the criminal courts in Cleveland so listeners will get to hear everything that happens on the inside.
We spent a year inside the criminal courts in Cleveland. They gave us extraordinary access, letting us record everywhere—courtrooms, back hallways, judges’ chambers, prosecutors’ offices.— Serial (@serial) September 5, 2018
We know we don’t need to convince you of how good this show is (it’s been downloaded over 340 million times) so just make sure you’re at the ready with your earphones and phones next Thursday because the first two episodes will be released. After that, you can expect a new episode to be dropped every Thursday (it’s predicted there will be around 10 pops to listen to). For now, you'll want to hit up the epic trailer.
