As we work towards an end to stage 4 restrictions in Melbourne, we're keeping a close eye on all the awesome events coming up at Melbourne that you can get stuck into while we wait for restrictions to back off.
Richmond's Future Future and cult Japanese milk bread maker Shokupan Melbourne have teamed up for a collab that will bring Japanese-style sausage rolls and spring fruit sandos to those lucky enough to live within a 5km radius of Future Future.
The sausage roll will feature an 'umami-packed' pork sausage created by Meatsmith with Japanese flavours featuring such as koji, shiitake, nori, and sanshō pepper. The sausage is wrapped in Shokupan's fluffy white bread, brushed with miso, and baked until beautifully golden and served with Japanese-style pickles, miso mustard, and a fermented chilli tomato sauce.
The fruit sandos—a popular sweet snack in Japan—will be made in a limited number. Slices of fluffy white Shokupan will be filled with whipped mascarpone cream along with spring fruits such as strawberry and mango.
You can also pick up local and Japanese canned beer, batch brew coffee, and genmaicha to go with your Japanese treats.
Future Future and Shokupan's sausage rolls and fruit sandos will be available for pre-order via Future Future's website.
