That time of year is approaching again. Whether it makes you cringe, or jump with joy, there is no escaping Spring Carnival Season in Melbourne. All the glitz and glamour can all too often be mulled by the gripping fear of finding the perfect dress, fascinator and accessories (that no one else is wearing!). We're not afraid to say that Spring Racing Season scares the bejeebers out of us because, simply, where do we start?! What can we wear, what can't we wear, which colour goes for what day?! Thankfully for the us, Melbourne Spring Fashion Week showcased a beautiful variety of key Spring Carnival looks, perfect for any level of Racing experience. Whether it’s your first time, or you’re a seasoned professional, here are the brands to watch this Spring Carnival.

#1: Thurley

Incorporating beautiful colour and embroidery, Thurley is on our hit-list of ‘Brands to Watch this Spring Carnival’. Featuring timeless pieces which highlight structure and romance, Thurley’s pieces focus on beautiful laces, embroidered detailing and bold injections of colour. Bold reds and electric blues were balanced perfectly with fine laces and soft flared-hems. Featured in both the David Jones Runway & Spring Carnival Runway, Thurley is hot on everyone’s minds as their go to Ready-to-wear brand this Spring Racing Carnival.

#2: Asilio

Asilio… where do we begin? This was probably our favourite designer from MSFW this year! Taking pointers from Maticevski, Asilio’s range included the perfect combination of lace, texture, metallics and soft elegant fabrics. Perfect for Spring Racing if you want to make a statement, without breaking the bank. The attention to detail is second to none, with layers upon layers of structured lace and beautiful embroidery. These dresses are paired back perfectly with strappy Tony Bianco high heels

#3: White Suede

Monochrome was the theme of the show for White Suede. Focussing on the contrast between modern trends, and classic shapes, we saw killer flares paired with stunning lace tops. Is the abundance of lace cramping your style? Opt for a sexy and bold power suit, with clean lines and sharp edges, or incorporate leather for that edgier look.

#4: Olga Berg

Another Melbourne-based brand, Olga Berg has been around for almost forever. But gone are the days of their ‘mother of the bride’ stigma. Bring on 2015, and their modern, updated look! Olga Berg’s collection is renowned for their bold use of colour and detailed embellishment. Not only are they known for their gorgeous clutches, but they have extended their range into millinery and headwear, perfect for the Spring Racing Season. Featured across the David Jones Runway, Olga Berg’s range can be found at David Jones Stores, online, and at Myer.
