AFL! Markets! Movies! If you’re looking for some awesome things to do in Melbourne this week, look no further. Everything you need is right here, folks, to have yourself an epic few days of relaxing, getting cultured, and—yes, that’s right—barracking for your top team in the final to end all finals.

All Weekend

Finders Keepers Market

It’s fashion, art, design, stationery and gift heaven in the first Finders Keepers Market of the spring/summer season. Head on over to the Royal Exhibition Building to grab yourself something nifty.

South East Asia Festival

Get ready to fill your stomachs at the South East Asia Festival with cuisines from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia and many more. We’re already salivating.

Romance Died Romantically

Pop in to Strange Neighbour gallery in Fitzroy to catch the Romance Died Romantically exhibition – a surreal look at romance, its sometimes awkward nature and tragic outcomes from a range of local artists.

Melbourne Fringe Festival

It’s the final weekend for Melbourne Fringe so make sure to have a look-see. Get down to some dance workshops with Flow & Beats or catch the hilarious and slightly too close to home I Don’t Know Yet. For a full list of festival events head to Melbourne Fringe Festival.

Italian Film Festival 2015

Ahh, Italia. If you’re wanting to escape the hype that is Oktoberfest and Grand Final Day celebrations why not tuck into a flick at the Italian Film Festival? Check out our Italian Film Festival 2015 recommendations

Friday 2nd

In Praise Of Melancholy with The School of Life

Philosophy pioneers, The School of Life, host a symposium (complete with wine and nibbles) at Collingwood café Allpress Roastery. The evening soiree will discuss melancholy, thanks to witty contributions form a host of Melbourne Fringe Festival performers. Love a good mope every so often? This one’s for you. Lock it in here.

Grand Final Eve Fiesta at The Corner

Looking for somewhere to really let loose this weekend? Richmond music venue The Corner has you covered, with DJ sets, tacos, sangria jugs and a whole lot of footy fiesta madness. For info on how to book your table, click here.

City Calm Down at Howler

Alt-J favourites City Calm Down’s Saturday night show was an instant sellout success, so if you’re looking to catch them in Melbourne, snap up a ticket for the Friday evening gig at Howler in Brunswick.

Friday Night Gigs At The NGV

The National Gallery of Victoria’s weekly live music series is back, hosting free gigs in the prestigious art space’s atrium. Catch jazz maestros Paul Grabowsky Trio this Friday evening from 5.30pm and soak up some culture.

Saturday 3rd

AFL Grand Final

Sport’s not really our jam here at The Urban List, but it would be pretty un-Melburnian of us to not get in on the action this weekend. If you’re not heading to the stadium, grab your pals and get to any of the following pubs to catch the game and cheer on like wildfire.

Dr Morse, Abbotsford

WIth a cracking courtyard and some awesome food on the go, Dr Morse is a fantastic spot for good vibes and AFL action in the Abbotsford area.

Temple Brewing Co, East Brunswick

If you want to make sure you've got a top-grade pint in your hand, every minute of the game, get to Temple Brewing Co. in East Brunswick this Saturday. Their beer garden is also in full swing!

Builders Arms Hotel, Fitzroy

At the Builders Arms, you'll find pots of Cricketers Arms at $2 from 1.30pm until the first goal and a $55 menu to share.

The National, Richmond

Six large venue screens, Instagram and raffle comps. The National knows how to do Grand Final Day!

Prahran Hotel, Prahran

Get to the Prahran Hotel for a tasty four-hour drink and canapés package at $100 per head.

Terminus Hotel, Fitzroy North

Two-course menu at $55 per head plus table for the day, DJ set following the game’s Norm Smith Medal presentation.

Richmond Club Hotel, Richmond

Opt in for a big brekkie at $85 per head plus a three-hour drink package, live acoustic set following the game’s North Smith Medal presentation.

The Gasometer, Collingwood

As usual, the Gasometer has a fantastic Grand Final Day party planned—Japanese grill snacks, party pies, $5 Melbourne Bitters tins... We'll see you there!

Listen Records Compilation Launch

LISTEN Records is all about supporting underground Australian female and LGBT artists. Head along to Johnston Street’s Old Bar to celebrate the label’s launch and 15-track compilation release of LISTEN artists.

Spring Celebration Sauna

A little way out of town but worth the escape, indulge yourself in the Spring Celebration Sauna at Natural Healing Space. A large wooden hot tub, an outdoor fire and tons of delicious and nurturing eats? We’re in!

Sunday 4th

Docklands Blues Music Festival

23 blues bands over a 12-hour day, plus festival rides? We’re thinking it’s a great way to kick back with the fam this Sunday. For a full list of artists, further event info and to book tickets head to Wonderland Spiegeltent.

Tend To Your AFL Grand Final Hangover…

If you’re feeling a little dusty after all that mid-strength beer they serve at the G, head to one of our favourite Berocca serving cafes for a hangover brunch that’s fit for a footy-kicking king.
