Bend and Snap Christmas Market at 1000 £ Bend
If you’re looking for festive frivolity and gifts galore, then the Bend and Snap Market at 1000 £ Bend is the place to be this Saturday and Sunday. SisterWorks, a mission dedicated to helping asylum seeker, refugee, and migrant women find financial independence, will also be present on both days running diverse crafting demonstrations. From 12-5pm there will be a mix of artists and designers each day - head to the Bend and Snap Market Facebook page for full details.
QV Outdoor Cinema
It’s finally heating up in Melbourne, so now we have the perfect reason to watch a movie at the QV Outdoor Cinema. This weekend the ultimate cult-classic The Matrix plays on Friday night, and Miracle On 34th Street airs on Sunday night - for the Christmas-angel in all of us. Standard tickets are $13, and all films start at 8:30pm. Book your tickets here.
Gingerbread Village at the Melbourne Town Hall
Think Hansel and Gretel without the scary witch who wants to pop them into an oven... Melbourne Town Hall hosts the Gingerbread Village by Epicure this weekend running from 10:00am – 8:30pm daily. Now in its fifth year, the Epicure team has created more magnificent pieces of art made purely from gingerbread (drool!). This is a ‘gold coin donation’ event and all proceeds go to Make-A-Wish Australia.
Royal Croquet Club at Birrarung Marr
Our one requirement when we play croquet is that we have a large jug of Pimms at our side, at all times. Luckily for us this weekend the Royal Croquet Club are delivering their fantastic summer series with just that. Open daily from midday on the rolling hills of Birrarung Marr, there is croquet, delicious plates of food from your most-loved Melbourne restaurants, and Pimms of course! The croquet club is a free event, and the last day is this Sunday - so don’t miss out!
Comedy Night at the European Bier Café
Do you have $12 spare this Thursday evening? Well we recommend popping over to the European Bier Café for a laughter-filled night with headlining comedian, Joel Creasey. It has been said that laughter is in fact the best medicine, so fork over your spare change and banish the Christmas stress for good! Kicking off at 8:30pm, tickets are available on the door.
Summer Warehouse Party feat. Andras (DJ set)
This Thursday, General Assembly and Work-Shop Melbourne combine forces to help the Melbourne public UNPLUG. They want you to switch off your devices, attend their Summer Warehouse Party, and get connected to your peers. A 2-hour Andras DJ set, non-stop dancing, good conversation, and a selection of beverages from Vale Ale? Sounds perfect. Closing Night at Coburg Night Markets
Don’t say we didn’t warn you! It is the last Coburg Night Market of 2015 - so market-goers, grab your bags and head straight to Bridges Reserve to snap up the best of local artisan wares from 5:30-10pm. To close the season, the harmony driven roots music of Perch Creek will fill the air as you peruse the food trucks and market goods. For the full list of stalls, food trucks, and local acts hit up the Coburg Night Market website.
St Kilda Beach Foreshore Festival
This Saturday from 12-8pm, St Kilda Beach is the place to be. A summer beach party with an insane musical line-up and a slam beach volleyball tournament is hitting the beach, if that tickles your fancy! Featuring Yolanda Be Cool, DJ Havana Brown, DCUP, and Uberjakd - what’s the hold up? Get out into the sunshine and embrace this warm Melbourne weather. Just remember to ‘Slip, Slop, Slap’, cause it’s going to be a hot one. General admission tickets are $65 each, click here to book online.
Luna Park’s Summer Launch
I don’t care if you’re a big kid, little kid, or an unidentified creature - this one’s for everyone! This Saturday Luna Park is celebrating their summer launch by unveiling FOUR new rides. If you feel like being lifted into the air and thrown about, then head to Body Rock - or hop on over to the Hurricane where you will plummet upwards and downwards in a storm of excitement and terror. I’m no expert, but it kinda sounds like a perfect Saturday plan to me. Ticket prices vary, click here to book now.
Little Sparrow Market at Federation Square
Little Sparrow is a fabulous market that showcases work by established and emerging designers - so get behind local talent this Christmas and hop down to Federation Square from 10-5pm. There will be a Christmas installation, live music, carolers, and FREE Instagram printing. I don’t know about you, but a hand made Christmas gift, plus a printed photo of yourself and your loved ones, sounds like the cutest Christmas present ever!
Aperol Spritz Sessions at DOC Albert Park
Aperol Spritz has teamed up with DOC Albert Park to bring you their twist of the beloved Sunday session. Weather forecasts indicate it’s going to be stinkin’ hot the entire weekend, so after you’ve cooled down at the beach head directly to Albert Park and sip on a refreshing Aperol Spritz, and relax into the musical beats. It starts at 3pm and goes til late, a perfect end of week sesh to calm the soul.
