Whisky, Martinis & Hip Hop At Tokyo Tina’s Late-Night Bar

By Clare Acheson - 19 Aug 2015

There’s a string of new late-night venues popping up around the city right now, with some of the best restaurants in Melbourne transforming themselves into after-hours dive bars where things can really get loose. The latest one on our radar is Thundercat, south-side restaurant Tokyo Tina’s evening incarnation. Thought they were all about bao and beers? It’s time to think again.

Tokyo Tina is set to extend its opening hours, providing hip hop, whisky and martinis to those of you who just won’t let the night end after dinner. Sounds like the perfect recipe for a good ol’ party, amirite?! Punters will have to enter through the venue’s side door, giving the place a hidden speakeasy feel that’s reserved only for those who search it out.

While there will be a small bar menu available until the early hours, the real focus here is on the cocktails, buzzing vibe and potential to turn the place into a dancefloor. Keeping it simple is key too, and with a concept centred around booze, tunes and food, it’s not hard to go wrong!

Simon Blacher of Tokyo Tina told The Urban List that he is excited to welcome the new pet, Thundercat to the family. Expect this awesome Melbourne bar to open its doors next month, in September, folks, and get ready for some late-night bump’n’grind action.

Thundercat will open later this year...Watch this space for details!
