Pack up your besties, throw on some carnival-inspired bling and head south of the border (you know, the Swan River one) for Freo De Janeiro—a Brazilian inspired party that is sure to cure your winter blues.
With all the grey and dreary winter weather, you’d be hard pressed not to be dreaming of a frosty brew on a white sand beach by now. Yes, you are, don’t lie.
Sadly, we all can’t pick up and fly to South America on a whim but the fine folks at Little Creatures are bringing a piece of Rio Carnival to Fremantle.
Set to take place on Saturday 30 July at our favourite Freo local, the Little Creatures Brewery, Freo De Janeiro will be a colourful whirlwind of dance, music, arts, community and frivolity – and, safe to say, beer. The party kicks off at noon and in true carnival fashion continues well after the sun sets over the harbour.
Beleza Samba Troupe, stilt walkers and Fremantle’s finest artistes will be there early on the day to get the dance floor started and live music acts and DJ beats will keep you shimmying late into the evening. And, of course, there will be craft beers and plenty of eats (the woodfired pizzas and frites are reason enough to visit) to fuel the festivities.
And how can you deny yourself a day of fun with the friendly locals when your party prowess is supporting local charity (I can feel the philanthropy goodness already). Freo De Janeiro will be raising awareness for Impact 100, a foundation that supports the Fremantle community by promoting the profile of small not-for-profit organisations.
