Founded on a love of food, coffee and community, Frisch and Barc is a stunning Como cafe that is already making waves in Perth’s foodie scene.
Walking in on a recent Saturday morning the place was abuzz with people and we were immediately greeted by the owners’ mother who made us feel very welcome—they really do have the community element down pat here.
Frisch and Barc’s fit out is absolutely beautiful. The minimal, clean design (with a touch of Scandinavian style thrown in for good measure) made us feel relaxed right away. We sidled up to a communal table and enjoyed perving on everyone’s breakfast.
The hard part came when it was time to order. Frisch and Barc’s menu is jam packed with delicious eats, featuring everything from the very popular brioche French toast and smoked ham hock baked beans with a 63-degree egg to sweetcorn and zucchini fritters with smoked salmon and smashed avo and a very delicious looking black angus corned beef potato hash.
With great difficulty we honed in on the apple and pear bircher muesli, Johnny’s breakfast burger and a hot chocolate—because it’s all about the balance, amiright?!
The hot chocolate was very decadent and not too sweet so I didn’t have the sugar guilts afterwards. Made with 33% koko deluxe chocolate and served with an American style marshmallow I gulped this one down in minutes.
Muesli tends to be pretty similar from place to place, but the guys at Frisch and Barc have gotten really creative with their apple and pear bircher. Served with yoghurt, toasted coconut flesh, freeze dried lychee and mixed berry compote, this bad boy was sweet and delicious. Definitely a good option if you want something a little lighter.
The real standout had to be the breakfast burger. Chef and owner, Johnny, also owns American burger joint Johnny’s Burgers so he really knows his shiz when it comes to burger making. This bad boy was filled with a super juicy wagyu beef patty, fried egg, grilled bacon, lettuce, cheese and a very tasty special sauce. I’ve been dreaming about it ever since. And if that isn’t already enough it came with rosemary and salt seasoned French fries. Heck yes!
If you’re looking for the perfect weekend brunch spot with delicious food and relaxed vibes, Frisch and Barc won’t disappoint. For their location, opening hours and all the details you’ll find Frisch and Barc in the directory.
