It’s Friday night, you’ve had a long week, you’re really tired and all you want to do is sit on the couch with a glass of wine and binge-watch Utopia. You absolutely cannot be bothered cooking dinner; however you also don’t want to resign yourself to a greasy pizza or chicken nuggets, because your body is obviously a temple. It is the ultimate conundrum of adulthood.
Luckily, there are loads of healthy takeaways spots in Perth that do all the hard work for you. So you can still have a nutritious dinner AND enjoy down time.
This healthy restaurant delivers via Uber Eats until 9pm, so even if you pull a long shift at the office, you can still earn (vegan) brownie points by having a nutritious dinner. Our tip is to go for the coconut curry, with hearty roast vegetables and tofu; or the Moroccan Delight, a ragout of vegetables cooked in spices and topped with falafel.
From 5pm every night, the Peko Peko chefs prepare the ultimate in healthy wok tossed noodles, fresh teriyaki meals and hot edamame beans. For the noodles, all you need to do is choose your meat, veggie combo, noodles and sauce and leave the rest to them. Or if you’re going for the teriyaki, that’s all decided for you—just rock up and you’ll be served your healthy teriyaki with turmeric rice and veggies.
As far as cuisines go, Vietnamese is probably one of the healthiest, so you don’t need to feel bad about ordering takeaway from this Northbridge institution. You can have a big hearty bowl of pho (broth + vegetables + rice noodles = healthy) or the goi ga (poached chicken on a salad of fresh cabbage, carrot and topped with mint and chilli). Massive health ticks.
Nourish And Feed
A healthy drive-thru. Why didn’t we think of this? The team at Nourish and Feed provide you with fresh, wholesome, tasty food all from the convenience of your car. Our favourite has got to be the healthy pad thai—sweet potato noodles and loads of veggies topped with an egg and sesame lime dressing. They’re open until 7pm so grab it on your way home.
The Little Concept
If your office is in the Freo vicinity, duck out of work a little early to get a takeaway dinner from The Little Concept before it closes at 5pm. They have a selection of amazing, healthy, take-away meals that are all home-made with lots of love and care—such as vegan beetroot patties with a side of zucchini noodles, or wild rice and quinoa salad with coconut dill sauce.
The takeaway menu at this Vietnamese hot-spot is packed with so healthy options, you could probably get it every night of the week and not feel guilty. Their fresh vegetable dishes include things like steamed tofu with broccoli and stir-fried vegetables with lemongrass and chilli. If you’re after protein, get the steamed fish with ginger, spring onions and chilli. Or if you need a healthy carb hit, get the grilled prawns served on top of rice vermicelli.
This little Japanese spot has got your healthy dinner sorted with takeaway items like udon noodles, fresh sashimi, seaweed salads and agedashi tofu.
Gilberts Fresh has a very talented in-house chef who makes healthy takeaway meals using the best local produce. There are fresh salads, veggie dishes, healthy pasta and wholesome rice dishes to choose from, so all you need to do is pick it up and pop it in the oven when you get home.
If you want hearty takeaway that isn’t of the pizza variety, head to Suburban Table where most of their main menu can be ordered to go. Plus most of it happens to be gluten free. We recommend the potato gnocchi with cherry tomatoes and capers; or the crab risotto with spinach, dill and lemon.
