If you’re thinking that the IGA Perth Royal Show is all about the good times, well, you’d be damn right! From tucking into a deep fried taco to testing your nerve on the rides down Sideshow Alley, the show is just the thing to get you in the mood for spring.
But you’re on a budget, you say? Well, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve gone through this year’s program and plucked out the best things to do with this in mind, as well as a few special experiences that are worth the splurge.
Here’s what’s in store at this year’s IGA Perth Royal Show, back at Claremont Showground from 22 to 29 September.
First Up, Here’s What’s Free
All major attractions, yes all of them, are 100% free. With over 700 performers and 100 hours of entertainment every day, there’s something to tickle anyone’s fancy.
Animal lovers will be glad to know there will be plenty of bunnies to pat, guinea pigs to cuddle and chickens to hold in the PetStock Animal Nursery, as well as acrobatic pigs to watch at the main arena. If you’re in need of a bit of eye candy, you’ll want to head to the Perth Royal Flower Show to catch some of the legendary floristry work from Matthew Landers.
Visiting on the opening weekend? Stick around to see Sam Perry (aka the one-man orchestra and winner of The Voice 2018) at 7:45pm on Saturday 22 September, and on Sunday 23 September everyone’s favourite Australian Idol runner-up Shannon Noll will be singing his bangers from 6:30pm.
If it’s not food, rides, showbags or shopping, you can bet your bottom dollar it’s free!
What’s Worth Your Dollies?
Foodies will want to track down goodies like sweet and savoury deep fried tacos, pulled dagwood dog loaded fries and unicorn milkshakes scattered throughout the showground, while all your favourite rides will be back at Sideshow Alley. Hot tip: hop on the ferris wheel during the Flight Centre Fireworks Spectacular for a bit of old school romance.
And when you get thirsty, the WA Good Beer Bar has you covered. With over 26 local craft brews on tap, it’s another good spot to watch the fireworks (or the action at the main arena).
Don’t Leave Without…
Any of the Fremantle Chocolate or Moorish Nuts showbags, and be sure to enter to win an all new Corolla from Scarboro Toyota while you’re in the grounds.
Tickets are on sale now, get them here. If you’re planning on popping in after work, grab a $20 ticket at the gate after 5pm.
