There isn’t much that needs to be said about the humble caramel slice.

The combination of caramel and biscuit is a match made in heaven, and the additions of chocolate, nuts, or even a touch of salt, are always a welcome addition to the party happening in your mouth.

Who are we kidding… we could go on forever about caramel slice, but we’ll save you the time (and the drool), and instead, point you in the right direction so you can get your hands on the treat that often slips under the radar of even the most dedicated sweet tooth.

To pay homage to its creators, Metropolist gives you, Sunny Coasters, the keys to the kingdom—here are seven Sunshine Coast cafes whose caramel slice offerings you MUST try before you die.

It appears that Decisions Café is the gift that just keeps on giving! Stocking various guilt-free goodies from up-and-coming local supplier Rawr Foods, choose from a regular caramel slice or one of the salted caramel variety. So delicious. Much healthy. Many yummies.
Where: 10 Capital Place, Birtinya

Arguably the Coast’s healthiest café, CK Coffee Bar and Wholefoods brings health nuts and sweet tooths together, because it’s just so damn tasty. On your quest to devour the entire menu—‘cause trust us, it’s necessary—you should skip to the raw salted caramel pecan tart. Stat. Because, it’s almost the same as a caramel slice.
Where: 17 Brisbane Road, Mooloolaba

Okay, okay, we talk about Tome a lot here, but we do so because they’re so out-of-this-world crazy delicious! Not only do they make a mean vegan caramel slice, their very un-vegan caramel cheesecake brownies are nothing short of spectacular.
Where: 21 Ocean Street, Maroochydore

This American style diner/garage/bar ALSO whips up a delish caramel slice for your consuming pleasure. With its grungy exteriors and humongous burgers, whodathunkit? Go all out with one of Rick’s famous nek-level thickshakes and enter into the ultimate food coma. Don’t say we didn’t warn you… #sorrynotsorry
Where: 14-16 Margaret Street, Palmwoods

This cutie-patootie café just back from Mooloolaba’s main drag makes a divine salted caramel slice in-house. Coated with dark chocolate, pair a piece (or four) with a nice, strong Yoyo coffee, and you’ve got a winning combination on your hands.
Where: 26 River Esplanade, Mooloolaba

New kids on the block Mister Darcy are making waves in Noosa, quickly gaining acclaim for their smooth coffee and addictive treats. Their caramel slice, lavishly topped with chocolate, is the perfect accompaniment to any coffee date, or even a sneaky takeaway after lunch.
Where: 2/89 Noosa Drive, Noosa Heads

For an afternoon tea with a view, you can’t get much better than Coffee Cat, whose perfect posi right on beautiful Kings Beach takes the cake. Well known for their extravagant baked-goods cabinet, we know it’s not technically a “slice” but the caramel pecan tart is too legit to leave out. Many a visitor to this Caloundra fave regret not choosing this, so when in doubt, don’t go without.
Where: Shop 4, 8 Levuka Avenue, Kings Beach

Not sweet enough? We’ve also trawled the region to bring you the best brownies on the Sunshine Coast. You’re welcome!
