Boxing-Day sunshine coast

We’re just gonna come out and say it: where the hell did this year go? It seems like only yesterday we were bringing 2019 in, and now it’s pretty much done and dusted. Crazy times.

With the silly season well and truly upon us, we’re already looking ahead at ways we can escape the Christmas madness and just enjoy this time for what it is: HOLIDAYS. Starting with Boxing Day, the day immediately after Christmas Day that typically consists of hangovers, leftovers and way too much cricket for anybody’s liking.

Well, we’re here to shake it up a little for you. Here are a few of the best spots open this Boxing Day on the Sunshine Coast.

Moto | Noosa Junction

Cure the Christmas hangover with a little trip to Noosa Junction's much-loved coffee and motorbike haunt, Moto. They’ll be churning out delicious brews bright and early on Boxing Day, from 6.30am until noon.

Compound Secondhand Surf + Espresso | Coolum Beach

Set back off Coolum Beach, Compound is the perfect little spot to sit back and spin yarns about the Christmas that was. This part-espresso bar, part-secondhand shop, part-surf store is open on Boxing Day from 6am to 1pm.

Ol’ faithful Decisions is open this Boxing Day for all your superfood OR superjunk needs. Roll in any time from 6.30am to 1pm to start your post-Christmas cleanse, or keep the good food times going.

We can’t speak for everyone, but we’re pretty sure one of the best ways to kick off a public holiday is with a beach swim, followed by a beach brunch. You can do just that with CK Wholefoods! They’re open same hours as normal—6am to 4pm.

Betty's Burgers | Maroochydore and Noosa

Nothing cures the Christmas Day aftermath better than fried goodness. Stop by Betty's Burgers (available in two locations on the Sunshine Coast) after a well-deserved sleep in for a Southern fried crispy chicken supreme burger, paired perfectly with a peanut butter brittle Concrete dessert. The Sunshine Plaza store will be throwing open their doors at 9.30am, whilst the Noosa shop kicks off service at 10am.

Ahh, Bistro C…how do we love thee? Let us count the ways…not only do they slay the beachside lunching scene, it’s also the perfect place to stop by for dinner, snacks, sundowners…okay, let’s be real, it’s always a good time to stop by Bistro C. Open from 11am ‘til late, nab yourself a boardwalk table if you’re lucky and let the good vibes roll.

Relax along the waterfront at The Dock this Boxing Day on the Sunshine Coast. Dishing up smoked meats, burgers, steaks and way more, there's something here for everyone. And with three bars and 52 beer taps, you'll also be guaranteed that no-one will go thirsty.

Come one, come all! Not much is changing on Boxing Day at Cafe Le Monde—but that’s only because they’re doing it so well already, they don’t need to change a thing! Open all day long from 6am, we reckon prime time to pop in to Café Le Monde is for a lazy lunch after a morning at the beach. We promise nobody will go hungry.

Corbins | Maroochydore

Super close to your shopping spree location AKA Sunshine Plaza, Corbins is open regular hours this Boxing Day on the Sunshine Coast. Head here when the hunger pangs set in, and you'll be replenished with great chews and brews, or a frosty glass of vino.

Nautical-themed El Capitano channels all the chilled holiday vibes you could possibly need after a crazy hectic Christmas. But there’s much more than meets the eye—their pizzas are some of the best on the Coast! Personally, we’re of the opinion that it’s always a good time for pizza, but if we had to pick just one meal, we’d go with dinner—so it’s super convenient that El Capitano is open from 5pm to 10pm on Boxing Day. Why not head in a little early and treat yourself to a summery cocktail, to set the mood.
