Crunch Your Way To Italy At This New Sunshine Coast Cannoli Joint

Someone holds a tray, lined with three levels of delicious-looking cannoli.

We may be a long way from Sicily, but lucky for us, there is a brand spanking new spot dishing up authentic Italian sweets, including some of the best cannoli on the Sunshine Coast.

Opening their doors for the first time whilst the state essentially went into lockdown due to coronavirus, Cafe Sisily is the latest Sunshine Coast new opening you need to know about.

Hidden down the southern end of the coast in Golden Beach, you’ll find the tastiest fried pastry tubes filled with sweet creamy custard or ricotta—yep, we’re talking about cannoli.

Made fresh in-house every day, for $5 you’ll crunch through the golden shell to taste chocolate or vanilla custard, or good old traditional Sicilian ricotta (the best place to start, if you ask us). With a lack of cannoli options on the Sunshine Coast, if you’ve had a craving for the Italian specialty, this is where to smash them.

If you’ve tackled their cannoli, next up try the babà—small brioche-like cakes soaked in a Strega liquor (usually rum-spiked citrus syrup) with a vanilla custard covering the top—so smooth, so delicious. Or, grab a bunch of biscotti to pair with your morning coffee at home. As an alternative to ‘special occasion’ cakes, this family-run team are also creating the most incredible cannoli towers with enough sweetness to make anyone’s birthday wish come true.

For now, Cafe Sisily acts as a hole-in-the-wall takeaway window, serving up from a cabinet loaded to the brim with stomach-fillers. But they hope to create a deli-style sit down area in time for summer, where you’ll be able to relax in the afternoon sun with an antipasto platter and a glass of vino. We’re already looking forward to it.

Currently open seven days a week from 5am to 3pm, drop in to wrap your mouth around your share of the Sunshine Coast’s best cannoli, and yes, you really do need another one for the road.
