‘Tis the season to be jolly! It’s also the season to over-indulge in maple-glazed ham, guzzle back the champers and shop up a storm. And with so many incredible brands and makers coming out of the Sunshine Coast, there’s every reason to shop local and wrap up some seriously unique gifts for your loved ones.
With just over a week to go, we’ve trawled through our fave Sunshine Coast brands to bring you this list of local Christmas goodies. Now, get ready to show that shopping list who’s boss. Spoiler alert: you are!
For The Chillaxer: We’re massive fans of anything local beauty brand Soak Society does, and although we feel like we’re cheating by going past their luxury wellness soaks (because they truly are amaze!) we’re loving their new BathDew™ Flower Power, a moisturising bubble bath that’s super hydrating as well as being organic and vegan.
For The Beach Shack: Know a friend with a bare wall in their beach shack? This super pretty hand-painted watercolour print from Sunshine Coast illustrator Cass Deller screams summer and with prices starting at $25, it’s an easy, no-fail buy.
For The Coffee Fiends: You can’t go past Noosa’s Padre Coffee’s gorgeous Christmas gift boxes, perfect for those festive hangovers. Choose between the Colombia Sierra Nevada filter roast, Daddy’s Girl espresso blend or the Guatemala Perla Verde filter roast, and if you’re feeling extra giving, add in one of their cute test tubes of coffee scrub. Boom! You’ve just been crowned best gift giver of 2017.
For The Beach Bums: If you live on the Sunshine Coast, you probably spend a heap of time with people who love the beach. So turn their summer into a world of comfort and nab them a super stylish Mahli Beach Pillow. It’s gifts like these that show just how well you know someone.
For The Wanderluster: Let’s be honest, we don’t really need to ever leave the Sunshine Coast but if you or your best mate have a case of itchy feet, order them a copy of the new digital family travel guide—an absolute bargain at just $12.50—from Frontier Tribe (you might remember these guys from their printed mag Frontier Journal). This time around it’s all about the Northern Rivers, and trust us when we say, the stories, recipes, tips and images are something special.
For Anyone With Skin AKA Everyone: We’re already devout followers of this natural beauty product and you should be too! Coming out of the Sunshine Coast, The Great State’s Soothing Skin Balm is all-natural and blends raw beeswax with a bunch of oils to help with common skin complaints—think: dry lips, cracked heals, board rash. Packaged to perfection and the ideal size to throw in your totebag, whoever finds this under the Christmas tree will be forever in your debt. Doesn’t hurt that it’s only $28. Just sayin’.
For A Beery Good Bloke: We’re spoilt for choice when it comes to breweries on the Sunshine Coast, and it’s kind of your duty to help spread the word by introducing your visitors to some local beers. Surprise uncle Ned on Christmas Day with a pack of Land & Sea’s Coastie Common Lager (available at Sunnies Bottle Shop in Sunshine Beach or Cellerbrations in Peregian Beach), Larry from Your Mates (selected bottle shops) or take your pick from Brouhaha Brewery’s range. You’ll score a gold star for sure!
For The Bikini Babe: Alright, so you might not wanna take on the role of actually choosing which bikini to buy your sister or bestie, but you can direct them to some of the best local swimwear brands on the Sunshine Coast. Where to start? Try Abby Rose Bikinis and Indrah, or if they’re more of a one-piece fan, newbie label Une Piece is the go-to.
For The Mother-In-Law: You can’t go wrong with beautiful ceramics for the other woman in your life. Show her how much you have this whole housewife/househusband thing down pat and grab her a vase, serving platter or a set of stone tumblers from the Sunshine Coast best ceramicists.
For You Or Your SO: You’ve ticked off everyone on the shopping list, so spoil yourself with an investment piece AKA a luxurious suede bag from Woven Palm. Complete with hand-stitching and made with a whole lot of love, you’ll be carrying this thing around everywhere you go.
