Get In Mah Belly! | 5 Of The Coast's Best Delis

Ah, the delicatessen: the place you can dig a cruisey hipster vibe alongside a delicious range of cooked meats, cheeses, and foreign goodies.

With its soaring popularity, delis have become the latest morning tea stop for understated trendsetters everywhere. These traditional grocery dens turned funky cafes are creating a central point for the cool and collected, fusing perfectly with the ever fashionable beach culture of the Coast.

They’re the place to be seen in 2016. Think coffee with friends. Think jar of olives with a side of sauerkraut. Think brekky after a surf on a Saturday morning, complete with salty locks.

But, with so many hot delis smattered across the region, it’s hard to know where to go. Lucky for you we’ve rounded up the best delis on the Sunshine Coast.

This might just be the MECCA of all deli-goers. Not just a corner store, but an organic haven open six days a week, Belmondos has earned its reputation as one of THE baddest (that means good) boys in town where a fine feed is concerned. Specialising in local produce, this little nook offers one of the greatest ranges of organic goodies on the Coast, including tastes and tipples from Noosa Cleanse, Eumundi Meats, Tanglewood Bakery, and Yukti Botanical. These peeps have even won an award for excellence in food tourism. Need we say more?

Dukes Deli

Dukes Deli is a little bit of rad on the Sunshine Beach surfer circuit. Offering a cool, affluent, yet laid-back vibe, this is the perfect spot for a chilled-out coffee, especially first thing in the morning as the sun comes up. People-watch as the dedicated in-crew grab their caffeine fix before they hit the waves and choose from a feast of treats as you lounge, including Toby’s Estate coffee, craft beer, wholesome homemade dishes, fresh juices, and supersonic smoothies. Doors open at 6am, seven days a week.

The Deli Co

With two qualified chefs (with over 50 years of combined experience), alfresco seating, and coffee that is the nuts, you’d expect The Deli Co to be da bomb, and it is. Catering for breakfast, lunch, and takeaway meals, as well as those delicious tapas spreads that hold the power to make a party, this is easily one of the best delis on the Sunshine Coast. Offering the revered Merlo espresso blend with Columbian and Costa Rican beans for a strong yet smooth coffee (we told you it was the nuts), you won’t be sorry you swung by. And if that isn’t enough to spark your interest, all the fruit and veg is sourced locally and delivered fresh everyday, so you’re guaranteed a nutritious feed while supporting your immediate tribe. Winning.

Lavish Fine Foods

Sometimes less is more. Lavish is a small family-run business with a rather large reputation. Located in Coolum, you’ll find fresh-faced young families in abundance here, sharing their meals and enjoying the atmosphere while being in the company of their four-legged friends. Yep, one of Lavish’s most admirable traits is their dog-friendly environment. You can even ask for a “doggychino” along with your order of coffee. We kid you not.

Soul Foods Gourmet Deli

This tucked-away delicatessen is a fav of ours for good reason. Soul Foods has become known for its friendly staff, great coffee, and super relaxed vibe. With the choice of both eat-in and takeaway, it could be described as more of a café, but with the food on offer, it sticks true to the deli tradition. Offering a diverse range of cooked meats, cheeses, and foreign delights, this is gourmet hotspot will have you coming back for more. No doubt about it!
