The Van Gogh and the Seasons exhibition is coming to The National Gallery of Victoria next year and if you’re a fan of his work, then the trip down to Melbourne will definitely be worth it.
In partnership with Art Exhibitions Australia, Van Gogh and the Seasons is coming to town for the Melbourne Winter Masterpieces Series for 2017. There are more than 60 works confirmed to appear and most have never been shown in Australia before, so this is definitely a rare opportunity. The exhibition is a celebration of the seasons and in particular winter, so it is only fitting that it takes place in our favourite freezing city, Melbourne.
There will be pieces borrowed from some of the world’s leading museums, including the Van Gogh Museum (Amsterdam), the Kröller-Müller Museum (Otterlo). They’ll also be accompanied by works from Van Gogh’s personal collection, which will provide a rare insight into the context of his work.
The exhibition is accompanied by scholarly catalogue, a children’s publication and a whole host of tours, talks and Friday night events (complete with live music, food and performances), if you want to make a night out of it.
