Editor's note, Doo-Bop Jazz Bar is now closed permanently.
We equate listening to jazz music with having an exponentially more sophisticated, adult life than ours. You're probably the type who does their taxes on time, has a discerning taste for red wine, and can undoubtedly pull a beret off without looking like a try-hard. Obviously, we wish we could be as cool as you.
Which is why when he heard that Brisbane was getting a late-night jazz bar, we jumped at our chance to slink into the scene we've dying to join—the uber cool jazz bar scene. Brisbane, it's about time!
Doo-Bop is the bar in question, and we can hardly wait for it to open its jazz-y doors! Named after Miles Davis' last studio album, this bar is no pretender. The fun takes place over two floors, with the ground level playing host to a jazz cafe by day, and a piano bar by night.
Sidle up by the Yamaha C7 grand piano as you dine in serious style (because of course you'll dine next to the piano). Meanwhile, the basement level of Doo-Bop's will be home to a huge stage just ripe for ALL of the live jazz performances. The best part? There'll be a bar. Serving up incredible, classic cocktails.
Brisbane, you're damn cool, you hear?
Doo-Bop is set to open mid-2017, so keep an eye on site for the official launch date.
