Sure, the calendar says it’s autumn, but the ever-rising mercury has us thinking we might just have scored ourselves another endless summer. Which means it’s the perfect time to enjoy all things alfresco… especially when it comes to the flicks.
After making stops around the country, the American Express Openair Cinema has finally rolled into our backyard. Held seaside at the Broadwater Parklands, there’s a jam-packed itinerary with events running from today until 14 April.
Festival vibes will be in full swing, celebrating all things food, fun and flicks. Some of the blockbuster films on offer include Aquaman and Glass as well as Oscar winners A Star Is Born, Green Book, Bohemian Rhapsody and The Favourite. And on 11 April, there’s a special screening of the highly anticipated, Captain Marvel staring Brie Larson.
While the film will kick off around 8pm, gates open at 6pm so head in early and grab a mouth-watering wood-fired pizza and antipasti board from the legends at Salt Meats Cheese. Sweet tooths can cap it off with a scoop or two of Haagen Dazs ice cream.
Tipple-wise, they’ve got something for everyone with brews from 4Pines craft beers, PIMMS, Giesen wine, Black Devil cider and Champagne Dupperrey for those wanting to add some fizz to the night.
Among all the eating and drinking there will also be live music and DJs before the film. Even better, it’s a dog-friendly event, so no one misses out.
Grab your picnic rug and a pillow or hire a lounger online to add an extra level of comfort to your night under the stars.
General admission will set you back $17 but you can upgrade to a premium ticket which scores you access to the Prime Video Lounge, reserved seating on a comfy bean bag, service straight to you and a glass of wine.
Tickets are on sale now. To get yours, head here.
