It’s official, the 90s is having a serious moment. Look no further than the current fashion scene or your television screen where just about every show is getting an awesome reboot and you’ll soon realise that everything that was once old is trending again.
And it’s even reached our humble shores, with Burleigh Brewing Co. teaming up with the Gold Coast Film Festival to bring six glorious months of 90s films throughout summer.
On the last Thursday of every month, head to the brewery for a free screening under the stars. There will be popcorn, wine and of course BEER for you to purchase. There’s deck chairs and bar tables aplenty but it’s a ‘first in best dressed situation’ so don’t get there too late.
And in an effort to promote our seriously talented local community, each screening is paired with a short film from an emerging GC filmmaker.
So, what’s on the schedule? This week kicks off with perhaps one of our absolute fave 90s flicks, Clueless. No judgement if you find yourself reciting every line…perhaps just do it quietly for your fellow movie-goers sake.
Other sweet movies you can expect over the coming months are Point Break, The Castle (for Australian Day of course), Never Been Kissed and Empire Records. We can’t wait!
