It’s no secret that gin is totally having a moment right now. No longer the 'drink of choice' for the sensible sipper, gin has made one epic comeback and we couldn’t be more on board. So when we heard that the legends over at SkyPoint decided to combine two of our favourite things, we just had to share. This rooftop gin and jazz festival is everything you need right now.
Gin lovers will be spoilt for choice as SkyPoint’s iconic observation deck is transformed into a 1920’s-styled heaven, featuring counters with six varieties of gin to sample from. We’re talking a showcase of Husk Distillers, the brains behind the floral-infused and Instagrammable AF Ink Gin, alongside tipples from Four Pillars, a small Australian distillery specialising in barrel-aged gin, and Swedish brand Hernö.
Cocktails a-plenty will be available to sample, each drawing on the unique flavours of their gin of choice to create some seriously mouth-watering drinks. Trust us when we say that if you haven’t tried Ink Gin yet, you haven’t lived. This innovative gin draws on the natural colour extracted from an exotic blue flower and turns from a deep blue to an adorable blush pink when mixed. Cocktail photoshoot time, anyone?
But wait there’s more. If all that gin from some of the world’s best distilleries wasn’t enough, you could also be treated to a free one hour gin masterclass prior to the start of Gin and Jazz if you’re one of the first 100 people to nab tickets. This class will see you guided by one of Ink Gin’s resident experts on the in’s and out’s of everyone’s favorite tipple. Your go-to cocktail just isn’t going to look the same after this.
And that’s all before we get to the music. Headlining the jazz portion of the Gin and Jazz night is seven-piece jazz band Jump, Jive and Wail, hailing all the way from the mean streets of Brisbane. Usually found playing up a storm at some of South East Queensland’s most popping jazz bars, Jump, Jive and Wail will be rolling into SkyPoint for one night only. But do you want to know the best part? Jump, Jive and Wail are known for their signature fusion of swing, rock-n-roll and rockabilly dance moves alongside the perfect line-up of jazz instruments. A.K.A you’re going to want to wear your best dancing shoes.
Keen for more deets? Gin and Jazz will be taking place at SkyPoint Observation Deck on Saturday 9 June. A ticket to the event will cost about $95 and will net you three hours of canapes, three gin cocktails of your choice and hours of opportunities to discover a new favourite gin.
Okay, okay, you’re convinced. Well, you better make sure to buy your ticket quick as places are strictly limited. What can we say, gin and jazz go together better than vegemite and toast. For all the details, and to nab tickets for yourself, click here. If you need us, you know where to find us.
