8 Places To Get Interior Design Inspo That Aren't Pinterest

While we’ll always have a place in our hearts for Pinterest, sometimes it’s nice to find inspiration outside of its DIY-heavy confines…agree? Fabulous, let’s move on!

To ramp up your house envy we’ve partnered up with Summit Homes Group’s brand spanking new design showroom dubbed The Style Studio to bring you all of our favourite places to find all of the interior design inspo. From home opens and binge-able TV shows to podcasts, Instagram accounts and books, you’ll be adding this article to your bookmarks (or Pinterest feed) in no time at all.

#1 The Style Studio

ICYMI real life Pinterest exists in Perth and we are over the moon. The Style Studio by Summit has just opened in Myaree (right on Leach Highway) and it’s jam packed with all of the latest house design and style trends you need to know about. Head there this weekend to find out all there is to know about building and renovating from the innovation leaders at Summit Homes Group. Dreams do come true!

#2 Home Opens

Just because you can’t afford a three-story mansion in Mosman Park doesn’t mean you shouldn’t check out its home open and steal all of the interior design ideas. Scout out the luxe burbs new listings each weekend if you’re keen to renovate or head to some of the new display homes to scope out some of the newest innovations in interior design—pro-tip: give the real estate agent a fake email address!

#3 9Life

We know, we know, some of the shows on 9Life are awful (yet oh so binge-worthy), but there are a handful of decent renovation shows which will give you a nice dose of interior design inspo (read: house envy). Fixer Upper with Joanna and Chip Gaines obviously takes the cake, but we also have a soft spot for Listed Sisters.

#4 Podcasts

There’s a podcast for everything, including interior design. We are quite partial to Young House Love Has A Podcast, 99% Invisible, Clever and Style Matters. Whodathunk you’d be able to get design inspo straight through your ear holes?

#5 YouTube

Let us introduce you to your new obsession: YouTube interior design channels! Here you can waste HOURS binging video after video. There are so many that we love, so we’re just going to list them here: Mr. Kate, Three Birds Renovations, House & Home, Studio McGee, Apartment Therapy. And when you’re done subscribing head to HouzzTV and watch their My Houzz celebrity renovation series.

#6 Instagram

Just search #interiordesign and you’ll be served up home inspiration in spades. Here are a few of our favourite accounts to get you started:  Sarah Sherman Samuel, Homepolish, Brian Patrick Flynn, Justina Blakeney Home and My Scandinavian Home. And if you’re obsessed with organisation, The Home Edit is where it’s at.

#7 Books

Despite being a website, we’re strong believers that print is not dead, especially print with pretty pictures! Peruse the design section at one of Perth’s best bookstores and you’ll soon find plenty of ideas at your fingertips. A few of our favourite tomes include The Kinfolk Home, The New Bohemians and Remodelista.

#8 The Interwebs

And of course there’s our favourite place in the world…the interwebs! Check out The Design Files, A Beautiful Mess, Old Brand New, A Pair & A Spare and Apartment 34 for a huge hit of home envy.
