It’s no surprise that the most successful people in the world are always educating and developing themselves by reading as many books as possible. Bill Gates has said that he reads 50 books a year to keep him at the top of his game. If one book a week doesn’t sound realistic for you, start with trying for 20-30 minutes a day or download an audible book app and listen while you are driving to and from work each day.

Start A Gratitude Journal

It might sound cheesy (okay, it definitely sounds cheesy), but an attitude of gratitude is a great way to live a happier life so grab a journal and write a list of everything you are grateful for each day. It’s a lot harder to get in a negative mind-set when you are constantly reminding yourself of everything you have in your life to be grateful for. 

Drink More Water

Roughly 60% of your body is water which means drinking enough water to maintain your body’s fluid balance is super important. Staying hydrated also helps with keeping your skin clear and your kidneys functioning optimally. Try to find a large drink bottle and fill it up in the morning and make sure to finish it before refilling, that way you will know exactly how much you have had to drink that day. 


It’s safe to say that many of us feel stressed out on a daily basis due to the fast-paced lifestyle that we lead. One way to counter balance this stress is meditation. It has been shown that when we practice meditation, the pituitary gland found in the brain secretes endorphins that help to elevate your mood. Basically it makes you feel happy as well as reduces stress and improves sleep. Why wouldn’t you get on board?

Be Nice To Others

A random act of kindness goes a long way whether we’re talking just simply smiling at a stranger or buying flowers for a friend or something bigger like donating your time to working at a charity each week. Whatever you do make sure to add a little kindness into your life every day. 

Be Nice To Yourself

Don’t forget to show a little kindness to yourself as well! It’s much easier to be kind to others when you are being kind to yourself. Treat yourself to a hot bath or a massage on the reg and bask in the gloriousness of not having to do anything except relax.  

Get Enough Sleep

A few too many late nights up late bingeing that TV series to your heart’s content? We’ve all been there, but sleep is super important for immunity, energy, weight maintenance and your overall health so make sure you get into the habit of prioritising your sleep over your Netflixing.
