Daniel San Karate Chops Its Way Into Manly

By Anna May - 18 Oct 2014

Do you hear that? It's the sweet sound of a brand new Japanese restaurant opening up in a beachside location. Daniel San is Manly's newest hotspot, offering a huge selection of fresh, modern Japanese street food with a retro rock n' roll vibe. Could Daniel San be one of Sydney's best Japanese restaurants and crane kick its way into our hearts? Time will tell.

Head up from the beach and partake in a cocktail; we recommend the Tommi San: a Japanese take on the summer staple margarita, heaps of fresh lime and a wasabi salt rim. Those who want a taste of true Japan will revel in the sake bar, featuring a selection of premium Japanese sakes and beers.

Expansive views of Manly beach are an added bonus to the food menu which has been created by ex-Toko chef Benjamin Orpwood. Trust us when we say you really want to take advantage of the robata grill that's offering up delectable servings of salt grilled or glazed pork belly and beef fillets that sound so delicious, it would even get those kids at the Cobra Kai Dojo talking.

There are a million things we could rave about when it comes to Daniel San, but we'll cap it off with an image in your head of post-beach drinks and nibbles with a bowl-you-over view... Aaaand a quote from The Karate Kid, because it only seems appropriate.

Daniel: Wouldn't a fly swatter be easier?

Miyagi: Man who catch fly with chopstick accomplish anything.

Daniel: Ever catch one?

Miyagi: Not yet.
