You know that feeling when all you want is pizza, and anything else just won’t cut it? We do. So naturally when we heard about Surry Hills’ all-you-can-eat pizza joint, we danced on our chairs. Literally. And all that dancing got us pretty darn hungry.
Hidden away down Brisbane Street in Surry Hills, Pizza Autentico is seeing the renewal of good all-you-can-eat buffets in Sydney. The focus is made-to-order traditional Italian, with top quality produce, much of which is sourced from our good friends at Salt Meats Cheese. So how does it work? Well, there are two options depending on how famished you are (and whether you’re wearing elasticated pants), with the choice of an unlimited 90-minute or 2.5 hour feast. Personally, if you’re dining in a group, we’d go the latter. Throw down $29, head upstairs with your mates, and let the feeding begin.
To start, there’s marinated olives with tapenade and house-made bread, Sicilian arancini and a rocket and parmesan salad. Moving on, it’s a roaming mix of authentic freshly made pastas and crispy thin-crust pizzas, so you can say goodbye to food envy. In a stroke of utter genius, here you have the chance to try it all, whether it’s the orecchiette norma with eggplant and ricotta or the rigatoni n’duja with spicy sausage. While on the pizza front, highlights include: the quattro stagioni with prosciutto, olives, button mushrooms and artichokes; the valtellinese with shaved beef, rocket and parmesan; and the capricciosa with ham and olives. And if you’re vegan or gluten-free, there’s no need to worry ‘cause you’re more than catered for. Just place your order with the friendly staff and the chefs will happily whip you up something delicious. Italian vino and a selection of Peroni Italian beers and cocktails can also be purchased at the bar so there’s no fussing around with split bills.
And yes, in case you missed it, it only costs $29 (or $20 on the communal table) – now that’s serious value for money! Get your forks at the ready people, because life’s too short not to indulge in an all-you-can-eat carb fest.
