We say hola to Sydney's newest Spanish inspired bar/restaurant in the CBD.
Fino Par means 'fine pair' in Spanish, which may have something to do with the wonderful matching of authentic Spanish food with their range of cocktails, beers, and wines.
Talking drinks, what kind of Spanish bar would it be without sangria? Not a very good one, in our books. At Fino Par, they have what may be Sydney's first barrel-aged sangria, which is a little oaky, a little cinnamon-y and a whole lotta delicious. Also taking centre stage is their range of Spanish sherries. Bar manager, Brett Harris (ex El Topo and Hello Sailor) wants to bring sexy back to sherry and to change the idea that it's just what your granny drinks. This may be a challenge, but we're keeping our minds and mouths open.
In terms of food, executive chef, Nelson Burgos has got you covered at his new Sydney restaurant. Here, you will find truly authentic Spanish dishes like grilled chorizo with black garlic, chilli salsa, and tomato and the refreshing octopus carpaccio. Don't go past the freekah croquettes with almonds, basil, and aioli and their smoked oysters with tomato granita are a real treat, too. Tapas are served from midday 'til late, meaning all you chica and chicos will be deliciously fed and watered all day.
For those after a morning Spanish hit, Fino Par offer a separate breakfast and brunch menu featuring egg and jamon baguettes, Spanish hash potatoes, and their very own big brekkie.
Seating 70 and catering exclusively to walk-ins, Fino Par is a very welcome addition to the Sydney restaurant and bar scene. Now someone, hand us a sherry!
