We’re never people to shy away from a milkshake in the first place, so add salted caramel to the equation and we’ve definitely got a winner on our hands. Made with milk and ice cream, it’s rich, silky smooth, and delicious. If you’re a salted caramel lover and only have one milkshake this year (as if), make it this one.

The folks at the new Sydney café, Devon on Danks, remember this moment very well and have raised the bar even higher, creating the silkiest caramel soft serve served with crispy, salty fries to dunk in. It’s a whole heap of wow in one dish. Get amongst it.

SoCal, Neutral Bay

Some would say that an espresso martini is a classic and you shouldn’t mess with the classics. These people obviously haven’t had the salted caramel espresso martini at SoCal in Neutral Bay. The bitter punch you get from an espresso martini is still there, but is lifted even further with the salted caramel that coats your mouth leaving a beautiful aftertaste. If you can manage to stop at one, we’ll be impressed.

So you’re at Ester, and because it’s Ester you have eaten so much of some of the best food in Sydney right now and you are thinking that maybe you don’t have room for dessert. First, stop lying to yourself, there is always room for dessert. But there is ESPECIALLY room for this salted caramel semi-freddo. The smooth dessert melts in your mouth and is all kinds of salty, sweet, creamy goodness. The sprinkling of black sesame on top adds a subtle hint of nuttiness, which makes this one of the best desserts in town.

Salted Caramel. Gyoza. Ice Cream. We probably don’t need to say anymore for you to imagine how amazing this dessert is. You will ‘ooh’ and ‘ahh’ as the salted caramel oozes out of the lovely gyoza wrapping. After a plate (or five) you’re really left thinking is there anything that can’t be improved by being made into a gyoza?

Our dessert dreams were answered when we stepped inside the award-winning Black Velvet Sydney. Tier upon tier of designer cupcakes, and walls lined with gourmet chocolates, we would happily live here if we could. Their signature salted caramel cupcake is so fluffy, so delicious you’ll want to pack a box to take home.
