We love to chow down on some delicious Japanese food here at The Urban List, and good old Zushi has always been considered one of the best Japanese restaurants in Sydney. We can always rely on their bustling Crown Street store to serve up some impossibly fresh sashimi, earth-shatteringly crunchy tempura or even some creative, out-there dishes.
If we're looking for some healthy, tasty food on the go, we opt for the salmon and kale roll with brown rice and a sprinkling of quinoa for extra crunch, or the salmon soba salad with fresh seared salmon, soba noodles and that ridiculously addictive ponzu dressing.
When we're feeling a little more indulgent or heading in with a group, there tends to be a feast on the table, and it always includes the honey prawns. We don't know how they do it, but these crispy fried QLD banana prawns are super crunchy with just the right balance of sweet, and nothing like the oily ones you'll find in a food court.
Another favourite are the sashimi tacos, featuring Huon Tasmanian salmon, tuna, avocado, with a sesame soy dressing, wasabi granita and a pile of wonton crackers on the side. Mixing everything together and scooping it up is one of life's greatest pleasures. We couldn't discuss Zushi without bringing up the signature wagyu steak, a grilled tajima 8+ marble score fillet served perfectly medium rare and served with nashi pear and apple soy sauce. It is melt-in-the-mouth amazing and will have the entire table arguing over who gets the last piece.
Sometimes the hankering for fresh and comforting Japanese food is strong, but your sofa's gravitational pull is too much and there are just too many episodes of GoT to catch up on. Never fear, Zushi delivery is here! And you don't even need to pick up the phone because it's all online. Delivering from Surry Hills and beyond, Zushi will package your grub and have it to you faster than you can say 'domo arigato'.
Now, let's talk Christmas; if you're anything like us, the time flies and you've got to organise something quick smart. Enter panic mode. Zushi have saved us a few times with their catering services, from signature Zushi platters to Mobile Zushi, where a master sushi chef will come to you and wow your guests while you mingle and don't have to lift a finger. Looking for something bigger? You can book out the entire Zushi function space for 30 people seated or 50 standing – who said party planning had to be stressful?
Well, it's lunch time, so we're off to nab ourselves a table in the courtyard at Zushi – see you there!
