11 Awesome Brisbane Events To Hit Up In July

Kick off the latter half of 2019 with some absolutely stellar events in Brisbane this July. We’re talking music festivals with unbelievable line ups, food and drink fests every weekend of the month, and an entire day devoted solely to our collective true love, chocolate.

Izmal Modern Mexican Kitchen Takeover 

Swapping their usual Middle Eastern inspired eats for Mexican flair, Paddington favourite Naïm are hosting Chef Julio Aguilera of Mexico City's Izmal for a seven-night collaborative takeover with the cafe's own head chef, Vince Estacio. Book a table during the pop up from 3-6 and 7-10 July for a five-course dinner degustation with matched drinks, and prepare yourself for some epic Mexican flavours created with locally sourced ingredients.

Le Festival 2019

South Bank is once again home to the annual Le Festival. Taking place on the first weekend of July, Le Festival is a celebration of everything French. There will be French music and entertainment, workshops and masterclasses to teach you all you want to know about French food and wine, and of course, plenty of delicious French morsels and drops to taste yourself.

Teneriffe Festival 

Celebrating the vibrant community that makes up this leafy river suburb, the annual Teneriffe Festival is one giant street party! Bringing together the best brewers, restaurants, pop-up bars and ALL of the laneway and street markets, Teneriffe closes off Vernon Terrace and Ethel St, and basically goes off for one day of epic eats, beats and bevvies. Make sure you stop by Green Beacon's Helen Street Block Party for brews while you're there.

Calling all chocolate addicts of Brisbane, the one and only ChocFest is coming to Portside Wharf on the first Sunday of the month. The festival is in celebration of World Chocolate Day, so naturally, there will be mountains of chocolate of offer. Whether your cocoa infused poison comes in a bar, fountain, or cocktail glass, we guarantee you’ll find it here.

School Of Rock

Hitting Brisbane this month is Andrew Lloyd Webber’s latest Broadway hit, School of Rock. If you have love for the movie (who doesn’t) and don’t mind a cheeky musical number or two, book tickets to catch it in the Lyric Theatre this July.

National Mojito Day

Celebrate the most sacred of alcohol-infused holidays this July with Riverland’s National Mojito Day. This is the perfect opportunity to call into work sick and make it a long weekend, kicking it off with a full day sipping eighteen different flavours of mojitos. Cheers to that.

Scandinavian Film Festival

Movie nights are officially sorted this month thanks to the Scandinavian Film Festival. This annual fest showcases the top films from the last year that have come out of Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Iceland. For stunning landscapes, impactful stories and breathtaking cinematography check out their featured films.

Openair Cinemas

Not a fan of reading your movies? We understand and have you covered with the return of the Openair Cinemas. This month they will be screening all the latest blockbusters on the big screen in the scenic setting of the City Botanic Gardens. Bring a picnic blanket, pick up some street eats and enjoy a film under the stars.

Regional Flavours

The free food and wine festival Regional Flavours will be popping up in Southbank this month. What you can expect is live demonstrations and presentations, over 80 stalls serving up delicious bites and fresh produce, live entertainment, and all the samples you could dream of.

Night Noodle Markets

Another foodie event you can’t miss this month is the return of the iconic Night Noodle Markets. The Asian Hawker style food fest brings together a collection of Brisbane’s best Asian-influenced dining institutions, getting them to serve up new and exciting flavours.

James Street Food & Wine Trail

To cap off the month, head to James Street on the last weekend of July. For four full days, James Street will be allowing you to experience food and wine differently with exclusive collaborations, secret menu items, and luxurious wine tastings. It all wraps up on the Sunday with a street-wide market day serving up gourmet street eats.
