10 Awesome Brisbane Events To Hit Up In June

Winter might be here, but that doesn’t mean you have to enter hibernation mode. Brisbane’s event scene is still thriving, with cosy film festivals, cheeky cocktail parties and some wildcard festivities throughout the month. 

We've rounded up the best events in Brisbane this June. 

Weekends On The Lawn

Howard Smith Wharves have created the perfect weekend hangout for anyone who likes food, drinks, tunes and games (that's us). June marks the first full month of their Weekends on the Lawn series, where you can soak up some sun by the river and indulge in food trucks and pop-up bars.

Juniper June

Prepare for a full month of gin cocktails at Riverland Brisbane—they're teaming up with Malfy Gin this June. Each week will have its own gin-related theme: think goblets and tonics, martinis, gimlets, and wrapping up with World Negroni Week. We know where we’ll be meeting for Friday night drinks.

Sugarcane Sunday Rum Festival

There's a rum festival running at West End’s Jungle Bar this month. Taking place on the second Sunday of June, you can expect to find market stalls, tiki mugs, island bites and fresh coconuts. There will also be plenty of rum to go around, with Brisbane’s best rum bars serving up some insane cocktails.

German Film Festival

Grab some popcorn and currywurst—Brisbane's German Film Festival is on this weekend. This annual fest is upping the ante this year, screening over 30 films in 15 locations for your viewing pleasure. Catch up on the latest cinematic gems from Deutschland in this celebration of German culture and film.

Negroni Month

Winterfest has hit Brisbane, and Riverbar and Kitchen is celebrating with negroni cocktails all month. We’re talking champagne supergroni, negroni sours, hot mulled negroni, white negroni, and of course, the classic negroni—served every day in June. If you love negroni cocktails, great eats and winter vibes, check it out.

Pixar Putt

A new mini-golf experience is popping up in King George Square this month, and it’s hitting us right in the nostalgia. Each hole is designed with a Pixar movie in mind, making this golf course your inner 5 year old’s dream playground. Stop by for a game and relive your favourite Pixar movies through putt putt.

Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow

Spanning two days on the second weekend of June, it's the Melbourne International Comedy Festival...in Brisbane. Melbourne's famous comedy fest has made the trek up to tickle your funny bone, bringing the laughs to all cities across the country. Book tickets to see Australia’s best comedians perform live.

lime + SoBa

Limes Hotel has joined forces with boutique wellness studio SoBa to bring us weekly rooftop yoga and pilates classes. With mat and water in hand, head to the rooftop bar on Monday to Thursday evenings for weekday yoga sessions away from the hustle below.

Tosca

Tosca is coming to Opera Queensland this month, and we're pretty psyched. Praised as being the greatest opera ever, Tosca is an intense story of love, betrayal, and equality—three ingredients that create one dramatic operatic arc. Book tickets to see this iconic opera performed live, alongside the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.

MELT: Festival Of Queer Arts And Culture

Lastly, we have the ultimate LGBTQ+ festival known to Brisbane, MELT. As always, this celebration of queer arts will be bringing stories from all ages, genders, sexual orientations, ethnicities and pretty much every other label you can think of to the Brisbane Powerhouse. Check out their program for heart-warming tales, exhibition, shows and performances.
