Best Summer Ever Brisbane Food

For some, summer means pool parties, beach hangs and baring all. For others, it means stuffing your face with ice cold gelato, drinking endless frozen margaritas and basically fitting in as much binging as possible until a January of detoxing and regret.

Whatever summer means to you, there’s no denying that good food should always be a part of it. So we’ve created the ultimate summer itinerary for food lovers to make your next 12 weeks the tastiest ever. Lay out your stretchiest pants—you’re going to need them.

Smash A Cheese High Tea

Looking for an excuse to treat a friend (or yourself) to an early Christmas present? Well, kick off the silly season with a cheese high tea. Yes, this is officially a thing, thanks to the legends at Salt Meats Cheese. Tuck into an epic tower piled with gooey truffle baked brie, deep-fried mozzarella sticks and Aperol spritz cheesecake for a sweet finisher. With bottomless bubbles of course—you can detox in January.

When: Every Sunday from 11am
Where: Salt Meats Cheese, South Bank

Eat Popcorn Under The Stars At The Moonlight Cinemas

Popcorn and watery soft drink in a musty cinema? No thanks—we’ll take our summer blockbusters outside on the grass, complete with a BYO cheese platter and a bar stocked with wine at the Moonlight Cinemas. Taking over the Roma Street Parklands for another season, the outdoor theatre is showcasing a bunch of flicks this summer, with a fully licensed bar onsite and food trucks. Much better than Netflix and chips.

When: December–January
Where: Roma Street Parklands, Brisbane CBD

Cool off with a dip and a drink with plenty of frosé, wine and cocktails on offer.

You can do just that at Husk Distillery on the Gold Coast, and we’d suggest making a whole day of it, accommodation and all, so no one has to be DD. With lush green gardens and plenty to nibble on, no one’s going to want to spend the afternoon drinking water.

Popolo have you covered with their Italian picnics. They’ll pop an antipasto platter, arancini balls and pizza into a picnic basket for you, complete with plates and cutlery.
