Ink Gin's new Ink Sloe & Berry Gin

It’s hard to believe four years have passed since Ink Gin sidled casually into our lives; soon afterwards exploding on the global scene when our darling Margot Robbie was snapped sipping on said indigo-hued drink at the Gold Coast's very own Bam Bam Bakehouse. The rest, they say, is history.

Now exported to 10 countries, making Ink Gin one of Australia’s most successful gin brands, this boutique local startup helped lay the foundation for a new-age of gin appreciation.

With the dust barely settled on Husk Distillers’ striking new facility, recently opening on a sprawling farm in fertile Tumbulgum—it’s time for some more big news from this graciously humble family.

Just announced, and to coincide with Ink Gin’s 4th birthday, Husk Distillers are releasing a specialty drop that is equally memorable as it is Insta-worthy. May we introduce Ink Sloe & Berry Gin, Husk’s twist on the age-old sloe gin, which takes a traditional English recipe and adds an Australian bush spin via carefully selected botanicals. With its rich red colour and crisp tart berry flavour, thanks to the hero Rosella hibiscus flower, the Ink Sloe & Berry Gin is tipped to be the hottest drink to have in your hand this winter.

After a few years perfecting the formula, Head Distiller Quentin Brival explains, “Ink Sloe & Berry Gin starts with a simple, traditional recipe. We distil with juniper berry, coriander seeds, angelica root and liquorice, then we infuse the gin with sloes, plums and berries—the result is just the right balance of sweet and tart. Also added are native Davidson plums and a fine mix of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and cherries which creates a pleasing mid-palate softness to the gin.”

To celebrate its release on Wednesday 24 July, they’ll be “painting the town red” with a pop up gin garden on the lawn at Husk Farm through until July 29. So grab your picnic basket and trendy hat, and head for Tumbulgum to sip gin and purchase bottles of this hot-ticket small batch item. Can’t get down to the farm? Bottles will also be available online for purchase via the website.
