The Italian pastry god, Mario Cali, is bringing back the Cannoli Pop-Up Bar for a second round. If you missed it the first time, this means that Cali will spend two whole days over next Friday and Saturday making and selling the Sicilian treats from Newstead’s favourite Italian pastry connection, Locale.
If you’re unfamiliar with the fine art of cannoli making, there is no better inauguration than this pop-up. Perfect cannoli are crisp and flaky with a creamy filling, and transport you right into the heart of Palermo. They’re damn delicious and Cali is flaunting some of the best in Brisbane.
The pop-up will run on a first in, best dressed basis, so unfortunately customers won’t be able to call ahead and secure an order, but we promise rising early and getting in line will all be worth it when you sink your teeth into Cali’s cannoli. Flavours on the agenda include Sicilian ricotta and chocolate chip, tiramisu, pistachio, and even a zesty passionfruit curd cannoli.
