It’s 2pm on a Monday afternoon, and your sugar levels are plumitting as you eagerly await the end of your work day. You have two options to solve this emergency—you could head to a vending machine for a sub-standard choccie bar, or you could head to one of The Mason Baker’s Emergency Cake Boxes hitting streets around Brisbane to grab some free cake. The latter is sounding far more appealing to us…
This Brisbane-based company is known for delivering jar cakes Australia-wide in a multitude of delectable flavours, and they have recently taken to turning these cakes into edible art. Starting from Tuesday 6 October, the team will be putting up red emergency boxes all over the city, filling them with tasty cakes. The installations are inspired by the works of Banksy and are designed to allow sugar-addicts to get their well earned fix. As explained by The Mason Baker’s owner, James Willis, “I think the people of Brisbane definitely deserve a pick-me-up after the year we’ve all been through.”
The idea is simple—your energy levels get low during a long and tiring work day posing a bit of a threat to your productivity. You turn to The Mason Baker’s Instagram to find one of their emergency boxes, which will provide you with your sugar fix. Once you find the aptly painted red box, you push the emergency button, smashing through the box and scoring some free cake. Not only do you get to admire some beautiful interactive art, but you also get to sweeten up your day. However, you’ll want to watch their Instagram with eager eyes to make sure you get in quickly, because no one is going to pass up the opportunity to score some free cake.
The boxes will be popping up in secret locations all over town up until the end of October—head to The Mason Baker’s Instagram feed to find out where to get your fix.
When: Tuesday 6 October—Saturday 31 October
