Street Food Fiesta, a foodie and wine event held at the Clovely Estate City Cellar Door in Red Hill, popped up last week to the delight of food-fans and wine lovers, and we were there to witness all the action (Ok, we might have sampled some wine as well).
A fresh new take on the traditional wine-and-plate pairing, this foodie event included authentic street food and fantastic wines (as well as some very tempting wine-cocktails), and was a welcome departure from your more traditional wine tastings.
While we hardly need an excuse to try stunning wines and eat great food, Clovely have managed to make the standard wine tasting concept even more enjoyable, with the stand-up, cocktail feel of the night lending the whole event a chilled vibe — perfect for a night out with vino-loving friends.
The menu, which featured braised wagyu beef cheek sliders with caremelised onions on brioche, cheese kransky hot dogs with sauerkraut, and churros, among other street food delights, was sourced from local suppliers where possible, and prepared by Clovely chefs.
And while wine might not be the first drink you think of when street food is on the menu, the sparkling cocktails and sangria on offer (our favourite was the Clovely Crush, with sparkling brut, Chambord and fresh berries) were the perfect foil to the Asian fare.
This street-food inspired menu was in celebration of Queensland Wine Week, and gave punters a chance to sample all of Clovely Estate's fantastic wines.
The Clovely Estate is synonymous with truly great wines, produced in the South Burnett wine region, and their pop up events — where you can sample their wines for yourself — are the perfect introduction to this excellent wine.
With plenty more wine dinners and Street Food Fiesta events on the cards, what are you waiting for?
Don't miss the next Street Food Fiesta event on the 30th of May — celebrating Aussie Wine Month — and the next Clovely Winemaker's dinner on May 24th.
