Here’s Where To Drink Mulled Wine In A Magical Winter Woodland

Winter in Brisbane—not exactly the most magical time of year, right? Sunny, yes. Magical, no. Well Regatta Hotel is doing their best to make us forget that it really isn’t cold enough for mulled wine and faux fur blanket parties by transforming their outdoor courtyard into an enchanted woodland, complete with fairy-lit greenery and some epic comfort food.

Book a booth from Thursday to Sunday and you could be lounging on one of their daybeds, surrounded by faux fur and wisteria, sipping on a steaming glass of mulled wine or their spiced apple pie cider (think warm vanilla liqueur, brandy, spiced apple cider and nutmeg), as though winter really was here in our river city. You’ll also get to nibble on a massive share platter piled with the likes of fried halloumi, salt and pepper squid, smoked chorizo, rustic bread and sweet potato wedges—all the comfort foods you could want for a brisk afternoon.

The shared platter and winter cocktail will only set you back $49 per person—think of it as booking yourself a winter experience without the expense of a flight to somewhere cold. If brunching is more your style, the grand old hotel is also doing a bottomless Sunday brunch that includes a share board piled with waffles and croque monsieur for $55 per person—maybe just double up and stay all day?

The winter wonderland pop-up is on and taking bookings until Sunday 2 September, so keep an eye on your weather app and schedule in a mulled wine session as soon as mercury dips below 25.
