It’s that time of year again. The race that stops the nation: Melbourne Cup. AKA Australia’s favourite excuse to get dressed up and consume an unholy amount of champagne before 12pm on a Tuesday with no judgement. Winning.
All this means that it’s once again time for Gerard’s legendary Melbourne Cup Day party, which is back for another year of free-flowing booze, food stations and glamorous festivities. If you haven’t heard of these shindigs, they’re pretty much Brisbane’s best Melbourne Cup celebrations every year—and this November’s will be no different.
On Tuesday 5 November, Gerard’s Bar and Bistro and the surrounding laneways will transform into Wonderland Avenue—think Cali vibes, desert chic and all things Palm Springs. Celebrating the mid-century dream of glamour and excess, prepare to delight the senses and indulge beneath swaying palms.
The drinks will be flowing with five hours of non-stop G.H. Mumm Champagne and premium beers by Peroni, wines, spirits and refreshing cocktails like Aperol spritzes. The fun doesn’t stop there—on the menu are fresh seafood and cured meat stations, delectable canapes and a selection of Gerard’s Bistro favourites, prepared by award-winning chef Adam Wolfers. And while you’re indulging yourself in the food and drink, live entertainment and all-day DJ’s will be keeping the party going off the racing track.
Make sure you bust out your best outfit and go all out with your fascinator, as there will be Fashions Off The Field as well as prizes and charity race day sweeps.
