Everyone loves a new addition to the Brisbane bar scene, especially us here at The Urban List (Who? Us? Drinking problem?). And just when we thought the Alfred Street precinct couldn't get any more exciting (with new bar Kwan Brothers recently opening their doors to much fan fare), a new wave of Gin junkies are bringing an age-old classic back to Brisbane.

The newest member of the Alfred Street fam, set to open its doors on Friday, is Dutch Courage Officers' Mess (or DC as it is affectionately known). Dutch Courage Officers' Mess ?is a new Brisbane late night cocktail bar with an exciting share plate menu, inspired by the colonial outposts of the British Empire in the 19th Century. The team at Dutch Courage are on a mission to recruit gin lovers Brisbane wide, and to woo gin 'vir-gins', with an array of contemporary cocktails as well as their 240+ strong offering of liqueurs and spirits.

Open late on Fridays and Saturdays, owner Matthew Hilan envisions Dutch Courage Officer's Mess as the new venue for nocturnal Brisbanites. He wanted to create a new Brisbane bar where patrons can let their hair down, enjoy quality cocktails made by experienced bar tenders, listen to live music, and party with friends in old colonial style.

Doors open from 4pm Friday, with Brass & Beats kicking off from 7pm.

Keep your eyes peeled for our Dutch Courage Officer's Mess verdict — on site soon!
