The restaurant industry can be a hard and fickle game these days, so it's no mean feat when a venue — which can only be described as a classic — manages to flourish for 15 years.
Eve's on the River is one of those places; amazing, high-end food with a focus on seasonality, matched with that relaxed atmosphere that makes us want to stay forever (and the view doesn't hurt, either).
Firstly, to the menu. Featuring a tasteful mélange of cuisine-styles, the emphasis is on freshness, quality and diversity, and it shows.
Breakfast, at first glance is a simple and un-fussy affair (avo' on toast, eggs benedict, porridge) but on closer inspection, little flourishes, like the pistachio praline on the porridge and saffron poached pears, make the brekkie decidedly delicious and special.
Our recommendation from the fast breaking fare though, is the surprising nasi goreng with pork belly and Chinese sausage. ('Cause nothing says decadent like pork belly at 8.30am.)
Lunch and dinner are equally impressive, with the quirky seared Japanese scallops and popcorn puree sitting pretty among more traditional dishes like braised pork belly and squid ink linguini.
As a venue, Eve's ticks all the boxes: location, affordability, and amazing service.
With absolute riverfrontage (think of the pictures, brides-to-be), one of the most extensive and varied wine lists around and a team that is adept at creating dream weddings, Eve's has been helping Brisbane newlyweds create memories for years.
Eve's is open Thursday to Saturday for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Sunday's for breakfast and lunch, or the venue is available for function booking anytime upon request. Call 07 3216 0726 to make a booking and become part of their cosy Teneriffe family!
