Shinbashi Yakiniku is one of Melbourne’s most incredible Japanese BBQ connections, and after 10 years entertaining Carlton locals they’ve made a second home of Brisbane’s Underwood.
Named after the bustling Shinbashi district in Tokyo, Shinbashi Yakiniku reflects the area’s reputation for rustic izakaya and evokes the same hustle and clamour of Friday night. Known for their all-you-can-eat banquets and sake, Shinbashi offers a vast selection of pork, chicken, lamb, and seafood to grill, but their best asset is by far their Wagyu beef.
Sourced from the highest quality wagyu supplier, Shinbashi’s a la carte menu includes the customer favourite ‘Wagyu Deluxe Trio’, with oyster blade, short rib and marbled beef, as well as a ‘Deluxe Wagyu Box’ comprised of eight signature cuts. Naturally, trying to order for your appetite is a delicate manoeuvre, and for the exceptionally hungry Shinbashi offer an all-you-can-eat buffet. For just $45 a head, diners have uncapped access to over 40 cuts of meat, including Wagyu, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
To drink, Shinbashi offers a staggering array of classic Japanese tipples including beer, sake, and umeshu (plum wine). If you’re feeling game, order a 1.8 litre bottle of Daiginjo sake and go to town.
Shinbashi Yakiniku Underwood is currently open and serving, so book a table and come check out the Japanese BBQ that won Melbourne’s heart.
