There's no denying we're fond of tasty baked goods and a good cup of caffeine, here at TUL. Brewbakers at Albion are usually our go-to when it comes to these things. Whether it's choc-chip bagels, a loaf of sourdough, or one of their delish' sandwiches to go, Brewbakers are on top of their game. We caught up with their "north-side famous" barista, Annabel, to find out her favourite Brissie haunts. She also put a Friday Mixtape together that is best played with the volume UP!
AH: I have been with Brewbakers for 2 years this December. I love the people! The people that I work with are passionate about what they do and their energy is contagious. We have so many awesome customers, it makes coming to work at 5.30 in the morning a total blast!
TUL: What's on the menu at Brewbakers that you just can't get enough of?
AH: Our hand-crafted and entirely natural sourdough breads. I am especially in love with the Figgy Levain loaf, exclusive to Saturdays. It is a total dream served straight out of the oven with Pepe Saya butter!
TUL: When you're not frothing milk, what else do you get up to?
AH: I love to eat food! So a lot of things I do revolve around that. Trawling farmers markets and local specialty food spots, cooking, eating, usually with my a bunch of my nearest and dearest. I spend a lot of time with my mates and family, and watching the Rugby.
AH: Bucci, if we're feeling lucky! Or one of West End's awesome array of cheap eats.
TUL: What is the last gig you went to? Who and where?
AH: Splendour in the Grass, Byron Bay. Need I say more?
TUL: What's your most-played song in iTunes?
AH: Anything by Coldplay, Alicia Keys or Jack Johnson.
TUL: What song do you turn up when you're alone, but too embarrassed to play in front of anyone else?
AH: Nothing too embarrassing but definitely a Johnny Cash classic — Jackson!
Without further ado, DJ Annabel.
