Todd & Pup in Moorooka looks uber enticing from the outside for two main reasons. Firstly, its leafy deck is heavily populated with multiple cute pooches and secondly, the air is thick with the scent of delicious breakfasts around Todd & Pup. So, obviously I decided to venture in.
The Moorooka local is bustling with hungry customers. The fit out is sleek and modern; think exposed concrete floors and floor to ceiling windows with exposed light bulbs and a leafy deck bathed in dappled sunlight.
The breakfast menu at Todd & Pup is bursting with options to suit the healthiest bike riders, the most hurried parents, and the super hung over.
I fit into none of these categories today, I’m just hungry. The menu is super hard to pick from – everything is calling out to me. Eventually I decided on the vege stack, and my dining partner went for the ‘truffled’. I also went for the Todd & Pup juice combo which includes carrot and ginger to sip on which was heavenly. Being super gingery it’s the perfect way to wake up on a Sunday morning sans coffee.
The boyf also ordered his usual choice of caffeination and attested that it was “a good coffee” which, translated from his use of superlatives, means, in a nutshell, that it’s f**king awesome, and no other coffee will ever compare. Our four legged friends Lola and Sam also joined us and were treated to doggy biscuits and all of the pats.
The vege stack is everything you need from a breakfast – fresh, crusty sourdough, (perfectly) poached eggs, the quintessential vege stack of house marinated pumpkin, grilled haloumi and the most delicious house made pesto. While this brekky offering has a rep as being a bit #basic, Todd & Pup’s dish takes things up a notch.
The ‘truffled’ is to breakfast what the Birkin is to fashion – it’s super luxe. The free-range scrambled eggs are infused with black truffle and served up on buttery, fresh sourdough with wood smoked bacon and a slow roasted tomato. If your mouth is currently watering, I don’t blame you, ‘coz this was damn good. He opted to add a side of haloumi too which really took things up a level and made this breakfast ‘so bomb,’ again, these are his words.
I’ve got my eye on a number of other menu items so another visit is defs on the cards. Not to mention the side eyes I was giving the food being eaten around me that I had menu envy over. Plus, their lunch menu still needs to be eaten!
